Good Magic, Bravazo, Hofburg, Tenfold and Vino Rosso – how did they do? That’s the big questions… Let me start with Good Magic and Bravazo for today… note, the final 1/8th of a mile in the Haskell was well over 13 seconds. For a stout finisher like Good Magic, that’s pretty mediocre. But he went out very lively posting a solid internal for the opening quarter and first half mile. Then when we check the visual, he had long passed his competition and was clearly in cruise control. Considering the wide trip, the strong early fractions and the hard raced he had in both the KD and the Preakness… this was a very good comeback. He posted a final number of 76.0, which is all he needed to dust these.
Bravazo on the other hand, didn’t put out early as Good Magic did and sat chilly on the rail, saving ground the entire trip… and had little or no punch when Good Magic was pulling himself up. So to me, Bravazo was showing anything that made me think about writing any more than I already have…
But I am loving the form cycle as it develops on Good Magic and I am very optimistic that he will continue to develop throughout this year and be a big time horse come the BC races…
