While California Chrome was absolutely terrific, with a stout and worthy effort from Dortmund, I would have to say Stella Wind was the most amazing on the day! Beholder took hold of the rail and set the pace scenario up to her own advantage by using her tactical speed to put the others in a tough spot. In the meantime, Stella Wind had to go a little wide around the first turn to clear Tara’s Tango so that she could start her attack on Beholder. It surely appeared to be too big an advantage to give to Beholder, after all she is such an exceptional race horse. Stella Wind let her have her rail, let her have her pace and beat her anyway. Stella collared Beholder by the time they went a mile and held her edge to the wire in what I would call one of the best efforts of the year!
