The Arkansas Derby and the Wood Memorial have flattered the Remsen Stakes for 2 year olds in late November .  The Remsen has always seemed to me to be the perfect race to prep your future Kentucky Derby hopeful for the upcoming adventures on the Triple Crown Trail, yet it has seldom played an important role.   This year, seems to be different.   As for the new approach Baffert and Pletcher have taken with several of their talented colts, we can also see how it stresses them as War Academy went wrong at Oaklawn.  I didn’t get any info on him yet and I hope is just a minor injury.     Anyway, Pletcher is pretty amazing, when you see a bad race from one of his horses, if  he doesn’t drop the horse he’s very likely to run really good.  He is always dangerous from Maiden Special all the way to Grade -I stakes off of bad efforts — keep that in your back pocket…

Anyway, I am really psyched for the Derby and I have plenty of opinions to offer so join me and Richie Eng at Sunset Station on Friday — May 3rd at either about 6:00 PM for the best Derby Seminar I can possibly imagine!
